The volume of machines - also for plastics and rubber processing - imported in Europe from third countries is growing steadily and, unfortunately, the risk of accidents in workplaces is increasing as well.
There are two reasons: first of all, too many machines, manufactured by companies which are not familiar enough with European standards and directives, carry the "CE" mark but often do not comply even with the minimum safety measures. Secondly, everywhere in Europe the domestic market surveillance is very very low.
This subject will be discussed on Thursday November 24, in Bruxelles, during a seminar co-organized by the European Commission (see http://machinery-surveillance.eu/), with many speeches, including one by an ASSOCOMAPLAST delegate about the experience of the Italian Association with the Customs Authority.
